An alternative rocker’s quest for revenge.

INFO

There is a complicated story behind this freelance cover. I completely drew it and colored it in Procreate during a time I was working in a small grocery store that was about to close down. I also designed the logo. This art represents me still making art during times my creative career was moving slowly. I was doing my comic style art for fun around this time and still in the odd post-military adjustment state in my life. I had left Chatsworth Times for awhile and was looking for new opportunities. I wasn’t in college yet, and still relying on what I learned vocationally and with personal training.

In the short of it, Jay White was the original singer for Ashes Fall, and they kicked him out. He put together a new band and requested some art from me, but gave me free reign. So I drew inspiration from 90's alternative rock drug culture and films like Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and Natural Born Killers to give Jay the visual firepower he needed to go up against a mutual friend, Cole Nations. With this, he got a mascot, Sid Bitters, and the emblem on the front of the car become his logo. This turned into quite a few merch projects. It was released in 2019.

I haven’t heard from Jay in a long time, and I’m not even sure this cover is still being used, but I see he still enjoys using the emblem on his newest album. I hope all is well.
