INFO
My father has always been supportive of me and my career as an artist, even in my childhood, and even during dark times when there was little money. Though he never joined the military or went to college, his love and support emboldened me to take on those challenges our family never previously faced. He recently met a wonderful woman that brings him a great deal of happiness, so I felt it was my turn to support him and reward him with the art and education he may not have realized his great parenting led me to pursue. I took everything I learned and painted their wedding portrait in Procreate.
When my toddler son entered my office, he recognized them and pointed them out saying, “Papa! Nana!” It was then I renamed the artwork, and it brought us all joy that he recognized them in such a way, as he doesn’t get to see them often.
This portrait was featured in the HOME / CASA: A Celebration of Multiple Belonging Exhibition at University of North Georgia in the Fall 2025 semester. It received a Distinguished Participation Award.
