PIZZA BABY

A Portrait Painted in Adobe Photoshop

INFO

This is a portrait of my son that I completed in Digital Illustration class at University of North Georgia in the Spring of 2025. The art was entirely created in Adobe Photoshop from scratch, using fundamentals such as canvas staining, value study, sketching the subject, and then painting and repainting over various areas within minimal layers and a set color palette – using warm and cool temperatures together to create a more natural scene. This painting was difficult to finish, and I chose the project due to its high degree of challenge. Its hard to paint a portrait. Its harder to paint a child or toddler. Its even harder to paint one that is eating pizza in all the wrong ways. Just when I thought I was finished, I found more to repaint or adjust. I'm still temped to rework it or restart it, but at some point I had to stop.

This work was featured in the juried BFA exhibition at UNG's Gainesville campus and at the Home / Casa: A Celebration of Multiple Belonging exhibition at UNG's Dahlonega campus, simultaneously during the Fall 2025 semester. It is also on display at the local Pizza King in Chatsworth, GA.
